Did you know that the average american watches over 4 1/2 hours of TV every single day? I found this web-site, it's interesting and it raises some important issues to consider. I'm certainly challenged by it!

UPDATE 9/21/06: The most recent figure from Nielsen Media Research, Inc., is 4 hours and 35 minutes per day, up three minutes from last year. Now, let's add that up. That is 31½ hours every week (almost a second job!). That is also 5½ solid days per month and more than two whole months every year. By age 70 that is over 13 years watching television! Aren't there more important things you would rather be doing with this time? Spending time with your family? Camping or hiking in the great outdoors? Fishing? Reading? Imagine what you could do with all this time!

Not only that but lets think of how much money we spend on tv cable bills ($70 month? just for basic) Thats nearing $900 /year, Money that could be saved or go to feed a starving child, help build a home or school for needy communities, fund local and global missions. Tv is also becoming just plain trashy. Take a look at MTV and see what they are selling our youth, listen to the profanity that is in almost every show and we barely even notice. My husband has to constantly change channels b/c of the half naked women in every commercial and shows that are on. Immorality being shoved in your face and we are writing the checks to keep it on. Preaching aside, I have yet to get rid of my tvs either.
