Virginia Tech University freshman Mindy Marcus of Bellefonte, a 2006 graduate of Padua Academy, was outside between classes when she heard gunshots. She describes her experience this morning at the Blacksburg, Va., campus:

Virginia Tech University freshman Mindy Marcus of Bellefonte, a 2006 graduate of Padua Academy, was outside between classes when she heard gunshots. She describes her experience this morning at the Blacksburg, Va., campus:
“This morning around 10 I was walking in front of Burruss, when I saw dozens of policemen with guns surround Norris. I then heard a gunshot and went over the other side of the drill field. "People were standing about, someone yelled out of the window that everyone needed to get inside. So I headed back to my dorm. Campus was swarming with police cars. Back in my dorm we are all safe and just can't believe that 22 people so far are dead. This is a tragedy and the only way for our campus to survive is to come together.“Now there is uncertainty, we know that campus is getting evacuated and getting safe. We had no school today, and no school tomorrow. Right now we just await the names and pray that it is no one we know. The gunman is dead that is for sure, so we are feeling safer"
