New View of Health

While waiting at the Dr.'s office for my husband (kind of ironic, you'll see why) I stumbled across this very interesting article in Experience Life Magazine. An excerpt:
"...the results of unhealthy lifestyles have proven painfully inefficient, ineffective and expensive, from both an economic and human perspective. In recent years, we’ve dumped record amounts of money into “fix-me” healthcare strategies, only to see rising levels of chronic diseases — particularly those related to poor nutrition and sedentary, stressful lifestyles. According to a population study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in March 2005, today, for the first time in history, the current generation of children is predicted to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents..."
Basically, our current approach to health as a country is failing. It's time to embrace a lifestyle that is preventative and maintains optimal health...let's become "...more actively engaged in the process of improving, protecting and sustaining our own health and wellness." A challenge worth taking.
